One Year In: What We’ve Learned (and Built) at Waypoint Strategies

Waypoint Strategies launched one year ago with a simple but ambitious belief: that owners deserve better support across the lifecycle of their facilities. Not just in moments of urgency, but through thoughtful strategy, consistent partnership, and deep care for what’s at stake.
Twelve months later, that belief has translated into measurable outcomes, strong partnerships, and an expanding vision for what’s possible when strategy aligns with stewardship.
Where It All Began
Every story has a starting point. For Waypoint Strategies, it began with two early partners—Near North Development Corporation and the Town of McCordsville—who trusted a new firm with big ideas. Their confidence helped set the foundation for everything that followed.
And that trust? It didn’t just stay in place—it grew. From initial projects to long-term partnerships, our earliest clients helped show others what it looks like to lead with alignment.
As Matthew Deck, Director of Facilities & Events for the City of Westfield, shared, “Surround yourself with great people and great companies... That’s why I’m super excited...about my partnership with Waypoint Strategies... Because companies like Waypoint Strategies make me look good.”
By the Numbers
This kind of trust has fueled a year of steady growth. In our first 12 months, Waypoint Strategies has:

These aren’t just stats. They represent the momentum behind mission-driven work—evidence that owners are hungry for partners who help them lead with clarity, not chaos.
Strategic Growth, People First
That growing demand meant one thing: we needed to grow, too. But not just in capacity—in character, in capabilities, and in alignment with what owners expect from us.

This year, we welcomed Casey Adams, client development and program manager, and Kelsey Jameson, project management support specialist—two professionals whose experience and values reflect what Waypoint Strategies is all about. Both stepped in with sharp skill sets and a shared commitment to leading through service. And both have deepened our impact in year one.
“For me, it’s about alignment,” Casey shared. “The organization should invest in its people, give back to its community, and create positive impact—from the employees to those we serve. Since joining Waypoint Strategies, I’ve seen all of that in action. It’s felt like a homecoming.”
Kelsey echoed that sense of purpose. “Every day brings something new, and every project offers a chance to learn. But what stands out most is the team—I get to work alongside people who are not only talented, but incredibly generous with their knowledge. And the opportunity to serve Owners directly? That’s been a gift.”
Their presence hasn’t just expanded our reach—it’s reinforced the values we lead with.
Evolving With Owners
As owners invited us deeper into their challenges, our role evolved right alongside their needs. While owner’s representation remains central, Waypoint Strategies has stepped into new spaces:
Supporting funding applications and grant strategy
Navigating compliance and documentation
Leading long-range planning efforts
One service in particular—Facilities Management Strategy—has become a standout. Owners aren’t just asking for help managing projects. They want insight, structure, and confidence over time. We’re honored to deliver all three.
Lessons That Stick
With each project, we’ve learned more about what truly matters in this work. Some lessons are tactical. Others are cultural. All of them now shape how we move forward:

These aren’t just ideals—they’ve become habits that define the Waypoint Strategies approach.
Looking Ahead
If year one was about proving the model, year two is about expanding the mission.
We’re focused on deepening relationships, building new ones, and showing up with the same clarity and care that shaped our first 12 months. That means growing with intention—not for the sake of scale, but in service to the owners who count on us.
From our partners at Schmidt Associates, who helped bring this vision to life, to the owners and teammates who have shaped it since: thank you for believing in what we’re building.
We’re ready for what’s next.
Owners deserve partners who lead with clarity, care, and follow-through. If you’re ready for that kind of support, let’s start the conversation.
